Tamarindtree Zambezi River Lodge is located at a breathtaking spot on the Zambezi River directly opposite the magnificent Redcliffs and within the Rufunsa Game Management Area which borders the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Luangwa Boma (Feira) is situated at the Zambezi-Luangwa confluence, about 16 kilometers east of the Lodge and the the Lower Zambezi National Park, is 6 kilometers west from the Lodge.

 
HOW TO GET THERE Map of Lusaka through to Luangwa Boma and Tamarindtree Zambezi River Lodge

By air: There are regular commercial flights from Johannesburg in South Africa to Lusaka, Zambia (2 hours).

A number of inter continental flights direct to Lusaka are also available.

There is an in season bush airfield at Luangwa Boma at

co-ordinates: S15"38' E 30"24' length 1,000m; elevation 300m). Charter flights can be arranged from Lusaka to the Airfield (40 minutes).

By road: The turnoff to Luangwa Boma is at the Luangwa Bridge, +/- 230 kilometers along the "Great East Road" from Lusaka.  This road is tarred and in good condition.  From the turnoff follow the +/- 87 kilometers of gravel road, which runs parallel with the Luangwa River to Luangwa Boma. This scenic drive from Lusaka to Luangwa Boma will take +/- 4 hours. Vehicles can be safely parked at the Filling Station in Luangwa Boma. Vehicle hire is available in Lusaka for transfer to Luangwa Boma by prior arrangement.

4 x 4 Enthusiast: During the dry season the Lodge can be reached by 4 x 4, but this route is not for the feint hearted.

Boat transfer: A boat transfer from Luangwa Boma up the Zambezi River will complete the last part of the journey to the Lodge (20 minutes).
