BIRD WATCHING:

Zambia is well known as a birding destination with over 740 species so far recorded.  Of these some 400 may be found in the Zambezi Valley.

Birding in the vicinity of the Lodge is excellent and there have been sightings of such sought after species as the African (Angola) Pitta, Pel's Fishing Owl and the Bat Hawk in the area.

It is our aim, commencing the 2008 season and with the help of guests who are interested in birding and willing to assist, to create a register of bird sightings to build a comprehensive list of species actually seen in this locality as, to our knowledge, no detailed records have been produced in recent times if at all in the past.  Your help is invited.

The Lodge and its surrounds provide a diverse range of habitat from riverine forest, huge cliff faces, sand banks, reed beds and steep river banks to tree clad gorges and rocky inlets in fast flowing water.
